Concept by She Thrives

theDOWNTOWN SOCIALWedding & Event Venue

Prepared for Downtown Social

What it would cost.

Two ways to do it, both priced in full, and no charge for the concept you have already been clicking through.

The pages

$1,000

The nine pages, your rates, your rooms and your photographs. People call you to book, the way they do now.

The pages and the booking system

$1,500

Everything above, plus dates held online and your packages sold from the site. This is the one the concept demonstrates.

Either way it is one time, half to start and half when it goes live. These twelve are in both.

  • The three spaces written out in full, with capacities, furniture, lighting and what comes with each one
  • Your published rates on the page itself, the Saturday minimums, the hourly Sunday and weekday rates, the Speakeasy wedding package and the business rates
  • The six questions you answer most often, alcohol, food trucks, music, tents, moving a date and parking
  • All ten kinds of event you host named in one place
  • The description Google prints under your name, rewritten and put right
  • A social preview image sized for the shape Facebook, Instagram and iMessage actually crop to
  • One layout that fits the screen it lands on, built for a phone first, then a tablet, then a desktop
  • Structured data giving Google your address, your phone number and your capacity, so a search result can carry them
  • Your own photographs throughout, from your site and your own social accounts
  • Your phone number and your email one tap away from any point on the page
  • Published to downtown-social.com, the domain you own already, so there is nothing new to buy
  • Yours outright. The site is yours and nobody can take it away

What the extra $500 buys

People book you while you are asleep.

You already sell online. This puts the calendar and the shop on the same page as the photographs, instead of two clicks away.

  • A live calendar on the site showing which dates are open in each room, reading from the calendar you already keep
  • Holds taken online, so a date comes off the calendar the moment somebody asks for it and nobody double books you
  • The deposit taken through your own account, paid straight to you, with the card details never touching us
  • Your three packages sold straight from the site, the bar upgrade and both of the shower games
  • The mural shirt and anything else you want to sell, in one place instead of a separate store
  • A confirmation email to them and to you the moment either one comes in, so nothing sits unread in a form

Care plan, optional

$50 a month

Or $500 a year if you would rather pay once.

  • Hosting, the security certificate and software updates handled
  • Backups, and monitoring so you know the site is up
  • Rates and packages updated whenever they change
  • Thirty minutes a month of other changes, hours, photographs, a new offering
  • New photographs from recent events dropped into the gallery
  • A check-in every quarter
  • No contract. Stop any time

If you would rather skip it, that is completely fine. The site is still yours and it still works. You would just handle the hosting and the updates yourself.

The terms

Simple, and yours.

You own all of it
The site, the code, the domain, the content. If you ever want to take it somewhere else or hand it to someone else, you can, and I will help you do it.
No lock-in
The care plan is month to month and optional. Nothing about the build depends on you keeping it.
Your current site
It stays exactly where it is and keeps working until you have seen the new one and told me you are happy with it.
The concept is free
What you have been clicking through cost you nothing and comes with no obligation, whatever you decide.
What running it yourself would involve

Genuinely an option, and I would rather you saw the whole picture before you decide.

What you would pay

  • Hosting, Vercel Pro$20 a month
  • Domain renewal, which you pay either wayAbout $20 a year
  • Code hosting and the security certificateNothing

What you would need to know

  • Editing the site's code without breaking it
  • Finding the one rate you want among the packages, weekday and weekend
  • Sizing a photograph from last weekend so the page still loads quickly
  • Pushing the change, then checking it actually went live

About twenty dollars a month in accounts, and the rest is time and know-how. Whichever way you go, I will hand over every account and walk whoever takes it through all of it at no charge.

How it goes

Four steps, about two weeks.

Nothing starts until you have said so, and nothing goes public until you have seen it on your own phone.

  1. 01

You say go, and tell me anything on the concept you want changed. That is the part I need from you, and it is the part that holds everything else up.

  2. 02

You confirm the rates and the policies. Those are the parts that go stale, and I would rather publish what is true this season.

  3. 03

I build it out, drop in the photographs you want featured, and point your own domain at the new site.

  4. 04

You look at it on your own phone and tell me what to change. Your current site stays up until the moment you are happy.

A note from Kate

There is a speakeasy, a room with the original 1890s floors, and a courtyard wall painted with roses, all inside one building on Lowry Street. That is a rare thing to have in a town this size, and it is what made the concept easy to build. Every photograph on it came from you.

What I am proposing is the same venue, put where people go looking for it. Your rates on the page. The six questions answered once, in plain words. A site that behaves the same on a phone at a red light as it does on the laptop at the kitchen table.

Click through the concept and pick it apart. If the direction is wrong, tell me and I will not be offended. If it is right, we can have it live in about two weeks.
